Mysuru: JSS Mysuru Urban Haat of JSS Mahavidyapeetha is organising its 104th thematic handicrafts exhibition from May 17 to 26 at its premises # Plot No. 432, Ring Road, Hebbal Industrial Area here. The Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Government of India, Ministry of Textiles, is sponsoring this exhibition.
More than 60 craftspersons from all over India including National and State awardees will be exhibiting and selling their attractive traditional and heritage artifact products. The expo will be open to visitors from 10 am to 9 pm on all the days. There is no entry and parking fee.
The event will be inaugurated tomorrow (May 17) at 4 pm by G. Anuradha, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mysuru. Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSS Mahavidyapeetha will preside. Dr. C. Ranganathaiah, Director (P&D), JSS Technical Education Division, S. Puttasubbappa, Director, Finance Division, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, R. Mahesh, Director, Medical Education Division, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, D.K. Lingaraju, Joint Director, District Industries Centre, Rakesh S. Shetty, Managing Director, Power TV, Bengaluru, B.R. Umakant, Joint Director (Projects), JSS Technical Education Division and K.S. Sunilkumar, Assistant Director, Handicraft Service Centre, Ministry of Textiles, will be the chief guests.
Craftsmen will present live demonstrations in art and craft making at the venue. There will be on display Punjabi Phulkari, Patiala suits, Bhagalpur Tussar Silk sarees, duppatta, Bastar Iron Craft from Madhya Pradesh, Horn Products, Grass Mats, Curtains, Jaipur Kurthas and Raprons, Kanjivaram Silk sarees, Ilakal Kasuthi and Molakalmur sarees of Karnataka, Jute bags, Kantha stitch sarees, Banaras sarees and Dress materials, Boutique sarees and Dress, Bengali Cotton sarees, Kashmir Handlooms, Wood Carving and furniture from Saharanpur, Wood Inlay, Chicken Embroidery, Modern Ceramic Arts, Murals, Madhubani Painting, Rajasthan Miniature Paintings, Rajasthan Embroidery and Footwear, Gujarat Dress, Dry flower, all kinds of Leather and Jute products.
Besides, Artificial/Imitation Jewellery, Gem Stone Jewellery, Marble Painting, Karnataka Silk sarees, Channapatna Toys, Terracotta items and other attractive Handicrafts and Handloom items will be showcased.
People from in and around Mysuru can avail of the opportunity by visiting the Haat and supporting the artisans’ community.
