Mysuru: Theppotsava (coracle festival) of Sri Varasiddhi Mahadeshwara Swamy temple at Paduvarahalli (Vinayakanagar) was conducted at the pond in the temple premises, in the presence of a large number of devotees here on Monday.
The devotees hailed the presiding deity with a slogan ‘Ughe Madappa…’ paying their obeisance to the Lord. With the ritual of Theppotsava, the Karthika Masa Puja festival organised by Paduvarahalli Gramabhyudaya Trust at the temple also came to an end.
The temple came into existence 17 years ago and Theppotsava is being conducted as part the last Karthika Somavara (Monday) for the past 10 years. This year too, the Hulivahana idol of the Lord made of Panchaloha, weighing 500 kg was consecrated on the coracle decorated for the ritual.
President of Paduvarahalli Gramabhyudaya Trust Mahadeva Swamy, Secretary Bhyrappa, office-bearers and a large number of devotees were present.
