Mysuru: City-based ‘Samarpana Educational and Endowment Trust’ recently distributed free school and college books along with stationery items to the children of Sadanahalli Sapthashree Gurukula Ashram, located on KRS Road here.
Dr. K. Anantharamu, retired Professor of Kannada Professor, Evening College, Mysore University, who spoke after distributing books, said that there was no parallel to education.
He said that no one could purchase education in the society. Continuous practice, dedication and concentration were required to achieve success in life.
He regretted that in the recent years, students were competing to score higher marks and forgetting character and social values.
He called upon the students to imbibe social values and humanitarian look and help the needy persons.
Head of the Department of Kannada, Good Shepherd Women’s Pre-University College Y.S. Nagashree, who also spoke on the occasion, said that if we want to achieve contentment in life, we should involve in social activities. She also advised that we should not expect any gain from our services to the people or society.
S.P. Manjunath, Advocate, who was the chief guest, opined that school children should not limit themselves to the curriculum but also actively involve in extra-curricular activities such as yoga, music, sports, dance, drama etc.
Sri Abhinava Ramanujacharya, Head of Sadanahalli Sapthashree Gurukula Ashram, who graced the occasion, said that youth should develop patriotism along with knowledge. He further said that when the country is stable we could live a peaceful and happier life.
Asst. Professor of Maharani’s Science College, Mysuru, Chethana, Samarpana Trust Treasurer and Kannada Lecturer of Sarada Vilas College, Mysuru Rajendraprasad Honnalagere, Advocate S.P. Manjunath, social activist and freelancer G.P. Harish, Trust Members Jayashree Nagabhushan and Shakti were present on the occasion.
Children of the Ashram rendered invocation. Rajendraprasad Honnalagere welcomed. Shakti proposed a vote of thanks.
