Mysuru: Thousands of candidates appeared for the written exam held for recruitment of Civil Police Constables (men and women) at 17 centres spread across the city this morning.
A total of 10,160 eligible candidates (men and women) had registered for the exam in city centres, which was held from 12 to 1.30 pm amid tight Police security.
The centres included JSS Women’s College, Saraswathipuram, Vidyavardhaka First Grade College, Gnanaganga Vidyapeetha in Kuvempunagar, Maharani Women’s Commerce and Management College, Nirmala Convent in V.V. Mohalla, Pramathi Hill View Academy, Mahajana PU College in Jayalakshmipuram , St. Thomas High School in Vishweshwaranagar and Sree Cauvery Educational Institutions in Kuvempunagar, among others, with JSS Women’s College in Saraswathipuram being the biggest centre, accommodating 1,000 candidates.
The exam was held with all Government SOPs in place and the candidates were required to follow COVID-19 appropriate behaviour.
City Police Commissioner Dr. Chandragupta, DCPs Geetha Prasanna and Pradeep Gunti visited several centres and supervised the conduct of exam.
City Police had imposed prohibitory orders in 200 mts. radius of all exam centres and photo copy shops in the vicinity of the exam centres were asked to shut down for the day, for ensuring smooth conduct of the exam.
