Hanur: Chamarajanagar District Police have arrested three persons while they were transporting wild boar meat in a car after poaching the wild animals. The poachers were arrested at Yadallidoddi forest area yesterday early morning.
Those arrested are Manjunath, Joseph and Balaraju, all from Bengaluru. After poaching two wild boars, the accused were transporting the meat in a car via Bandalli route in the taluk. The Police, who intercepted the car, checked the vehicle and found a single barrel country-made gun, 10 cartridges, torches, explosives, three mobile phones, heads of two wild boars and meat stuffed in a bag. The Police immediately arrested the three persons and registered a case.
Addressing a press meet yesterday, Superintendent of Police (SP) Shivakumar said that all the three arrested were professional poachers and whether they were involved in other similar cases is being investigated.
Inspectors K.M. Mahadeva-shetty and Santosh Kashyap, Sub-Inspector M. Madesha, Assistant Sub-Inspector Jayashekar and staff Bangaru, Ramesh, Shashidharmurthy, Naveen, Nagaraju and Mahesh Kumar took part in the operation.
