Three cheated of over Rs. 62 lakh by online fraudsters

Mysore/Mysuru: In separate cases, online fraudsters have cheated three persons to the tune of Rs. 62,96,170.

In the first case, 49-year-old Manjula, a resident of Ramakrishna Nagar, received a message from Mobile No. 95171-94389, which offered high commission for giving good rating to Google Map.

The fraudsters to make her believe deposited Rs. 150 to her bank account as commission and later got a total of Rs. 39,84,000 transferred from her bank account in phases, thus cheating her.

In the second case, 22-year-old L. Manjunath of Hebbal, received a message from Mobile No. 91108-57453, where the online fraudsters asked him to invest in a website and double his invested money in a short span of time.

The fraudsters then got Rs. 22,17,170 transferred from his bank account and cheated him.

In the third case, a fraudster, who contacted 25-year-old M. Gayathri, who resides in a Paying Guest (PG) accommodation near Abhishek Circle here via Mobile No. 62650-37371, introduced himself as a HR manager of an IT company, told Gayathri that she would be given high commission for completing tasks and got Rs. 95,000 transferred from her, thus cheating her.

All the three cases have been registered at city’s CEN Police Station.
