Three-day drama festival concludes

Mysore/Mysuru: “Compared to the history of other States, our Karnataka has a very strong history and everyone should be aware of our State’s history,” said Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Special Commissioner (Finance) Jayaram Rayapura.

He was speaking at the valedictory function of the three-day mini drama festival organised under the caption ‘Ranga Vasantha’ by city’s Niranthara Foundation and Nypunya School of Excellence at RamaGovinda Rangamandira in city on Sunday.

“Shivaji is glorified in the history of Maharashtra. Cholas in Tamil Nadu, Shathavahanas in Andhra have also been glorified, but the situation is different in Karnataka. Kings from various dynasties across regions have ruled the State. Rulers from Ganga, Chalukya, Kadamba and Rashtrakoota dynasties have ruled Southern India and Karnataka was regarded as the centre of Southern India. Except for about 100 years of Chola’s rule, our kings have left their impression on the history of India across periods,” opined Jayaram Rayapura.

Later, play ‘Varasudara,’ which depicts the incidents and clashes in Mughal dynasty, was staged.

Nrupathunga Kannada School Secretary Savitha, State Farmers Association’s Basavaraju, Director of Niranthara Prasad Kundur and others were present at the function.
