Three-day inter-zonal sports meet begins in city

The three-day inter-zonal and inter-collegiate sports competitions for men organised by the Post Graduate Sports Council (PGSC), University of Mysore and Department of Physical Education, was inaugurated by University of Mysore Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dayananda Mane at the Sports Pavilion this morning.

Around 35 college teams coming under Krishnaraja, Mandavya, Chamundi, Malnad and Chamaraja Zones which have emerged victorious at the respective zonal levels will be taking part in the inter-zonal ball badminton, basketball, volleyball, cricket, table tennis, hockey, kho-kho and lawn tennis championships to be held at the University sports grounds.

Earlier, the Department of Physical Education had conducted chess, kabaddi, softball, handball, badminton and football championships in association with Maharaja’s College on Mar.6 and Mar. 7.

University of Mysore Syndicate Member M.S.S. Kumar, PGSC Chairman Prof. S. Ravi, Department of Physical Education In-charge Director Dr. P. Krishnaiah and Assistant Director Kanthraj were present on the occasion.
