Three-Day Mega Muslim Convention Concludes

Heavy traffic on Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway near Columbia Asia Hospital here yesterday

Mysuru: With the three-day All India Mushavarathi Ijtema (Convention) held at Adakanahalli Industrial Area, near Kadakola in Nanjangud taluk coming to an end yesterday in which nearly eight lakh Muslim brethren from across the country and abroad took part and left for their respective places, the city witnessed heavy traffic congestion since afternoon with traffic jams on all major roads in the city outskirts including the Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway.

Yesterday being Sunday and with majority of the participants of the convention arriving in city to visit tourist spots such as the Mysuru Zoo, Palace, Chamundi Hill, Ranganathittu Birds Sanctuary, KRS etc., heavy traffic was witnessed in city.

There was bumper-to-bumper traffic on Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway as traffic crawled at a snail’s pace due to large number of vehicles of the participants and also of tourists who had taken short trips to Mysuru, Kodagu, Bandipur and other places were returning to their respective places. This also resulted in massive traffic jam on the highway doubling the travel time between Mysuru and Bengaluru. Additional Traffic Police personnel were deployed on all major roads to man the traffic.

Heavy rush was witnessed at Bus Stand and Railway Station as Muslim brethren left for their places. Traffic signals on roads which witnessed traffic jams were switched off and Police were seen diverting traffic for smooth movement of vehicles.
