Mysore/Mysuru: Regional Institute of Education, Mysuru (RIEM), in association with National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT), Manasagangothri in city has organised a three-day National seminar on ‘Innovation and Integration in Education of Modern School Sciences and Mathematics’ at  A. V. Hall, Technology Block of Manasagangothri, which began this morning.

Former NAAC Director and former Vice Chancellor of Bangalore University, Prof. H.A. Ranganath was the chief guest for the event.

Emphasising the need for quality education, Ranganath, in his inaugural address, said, “Overall quality of education in RIE is excellent, but in most of the B.Ed colleges I have visited so far, the quality is very poor. India has approximately 1.6 million schools that are educating millions of children across the country, out of which 93% of schools are run by private sector. There is lack of innovation in the education sector. Good teachers must be recognised and rewarded.”

RIE Principal Prof. Y. Sreekanth, who was the chairperson of the seminar,  presided over the event. Prof. A. Sukumar, Prof. A. Rama, Prof. G. Venkatesh Murthy and others were present.
