Mysore/Mysuru: The three-day Roots and Tuber Mela, organised by Sahaja Samrudha, began at Nexus Centre City Mall, Nazarbad, in city last evening. The Mela was launched by Delhi Public School Principal Manju Sharma, who said that roots and tubers were nutritious and the urban populace, apart from getting useful information can also purchase roots and tubers.
Krishna Prasad of Sahaja Samrudha said that the roots and tubers, which are grown naturally are filled with nutrients which can be consumed without fear. “The Mela has been organised to introduce roots and tubers in daily diet and also to youths. Purple yam, sweet potato, green and black turmeric etc. are available at the Mela. There are over 10 stalls where roots and tubers and their products are kept on display and for sale and mouth-watering dishes such as jolada rotti, ragi rotti, desi carrot halwa, dishes made from roots and tubers, jaggery ice cream, varieties of juices are available at the Mela venue,” he added.
Delhi Public School senior teachers Ameera Subohui, Nandita Philip, Sahaja Samrudha’s Seema, Nexus Mall’s Mohan Kumar, Manu, Junaid, Madhu, Mithun, Amruth and others were present.
