Three days of Dasara dedicated to farmers

Mysuru:  Farmers will get an opportunity to showcase their crops, learn about new technologies and have some entertainment as well at the three-day Raitha Dasara that will be held at J.K. Grounds in city from Oct.1 to 3.

Announcing this at a press meet recently, Dr. M. Krishnaraju, ZP Deputy Secretary and Raitha Dasara Sub-Committee Special Officer, said that the event will be launched with Chamarajanagar MP V. Sreenivasa Prasad flagging off a procession in front of Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple at the Palace North Gate at 9.30 am on Oct. 1. 

Hundreds of farmers accompanied by bullock carts are expected to take part in this procession, which culminates at J.K. Grounds.

Dr. Krishnaraju said that Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister J.C. Madhu Swamy will inaugurate an agricultural expo at J.K. Grounds at 10.30 am, while Fisheries Minister Kota Sreenivas Poojari will inaugurate ‘Matsya Mela’.

Later on, Major Industries Minister Jagadish Shettar will inaugurate Dasara events at 11 am at  MMC&RI Platinum Jubilee Hall in J.K. Grounds, which will be presided over by MLA L. Nagendra. Thereafter, an interaction with farmers will take place at 1 pm, he said. 

On Oct.2, Minister for Mines and Geology C.C. Patil will inaugurate slush field race at Varuna Village in the taluk at 9 am while all other Raitha Dasara sports competitions will take place at J.K. Grounds. 

On Oct.3, State-level milking contest will be held. Animal Husbandry Minister Prabhu Chauhan will distribute prizes to the winners at 6 pm the same day.
