Rs.4,180 cash, six laptops recovered
Mysuru: In a major breakthrough, Devaraja Police have cracked six theft cases with the arrest of three members of an inter-State gang of Tamil Nadu and have recovered cash and laptops from them.
Those arrested are 38-year-old Bharatiranjan, 35-year-old Jnanaprakash and 56-year-old Tailor Prakash, all residents of Ramjinagar in Srirangam taluk of Trichy district in Tamil Nadu, while three of their accomplices — Delhi Rajan, Kadarivan and Gokul — are absconding. They are all said to be the members of the notorious Ramjinagar Gang of Tamil Nadu.
Acting on a tip off, Devaraja Police arrested Bharatirajan and Jnanaprakash on Feb.7 and based on the information provided by the duo, the Police arrested Tailor Prakash on Feb.13.
During interrogation, the trio are said to have confessed to robbing cash from a pedestrian on Sayyaji Rao Road on Feb.5 and stealing cash and laptops from parked cars at various places coming under Devaraja Police Station limits by breaking the glass shields.
Based on the information provided by the three accused, the Police have recovered Rs.4,180 cash and six laptops from them and have lodged a hunt to nab the remaining three accused.
The Police expect that more theft and burglary cases that have taken place in the city will be cracked with the arrest of the remaining members of the gang.
DCP Dr. Vikram V. Amathe and Devaraja Sub-Division ACP Gajendra Prasad supervised Devaraja Inspector Prasanna Kumar, Sub-Inspector N. Raju, ASI Uday Kumar and staff Venugopal, Somashetty, Suresh, Manjunath, Umesh, Nandish, Prakash and Vasanth in the nabbing and recovery operation, according to a press release from the Public Relations Officer (PRO), City Police Commissioner’s Office, Mysuru.
