Three meet watery grave

Bannur/Mandya: In separate incidents, a student and two youths met watery graves at Kodagahalli near Bannur and at Mangala village in Mandya.  

In the first incident, a student, who along with his friends had gone for a swim at Cauvery Backwaters at Kodagahalli, drowned in the river yesterday morning.

The deceased student is Yashwanth, son of Naganna of Kodagahalli, who was pursuing his second year Engineering course.

The body of Yashwanth was fished out and shifted to the Mandya District Hospital, where post-mortem was conducted and the body was handed over to the family members.

Arakere Police have registered a case in this regard.

In the second incident, two youths who had come to their relatives house at Mangala village for festival, drowned when they went for a swim in a canal near the village yesterday. 

The deceased youths are Mahendra (28) of Mallathahalli and Mahesh (30) of R.R. Nagar in Bengaluru.

Mandya Rural Police, who rushed to the spot, have registered a case and launched a search operation to trace the bodies.
