TiE U (formerly TiE University) is an initiative by TiE Global to nurture the entrepreneurial spirit of college students. It guides from ideation to investment, helping turn campus ideas into successful businesses.
The programme offers college startup teams access to invaluable learning resources, mentorship from seasoned entrepreneurs, and opportunities to participate in Global Mentoring Sessions, Startup Bootcamps, and Pitch Competitions. These experiences are instrumental in transforming startup dreams into reality.
In 2023, TiE U witnessed significant participation, bringing together 32 winning teams virtually from TiE Chapters across eight countries. Local college competitions saw involvement from a staggering 1,455 startup teams and 3,676 college students, receiving guidance from local TiE chapters and participating in workshops, boot camps, and mock sessions.
This year, the competition emphasises investment-centric approaches, with top teams having the opportunity to pitch directly to prominent angel investors. Additionally, special prizes await outstanding participants, with total prize money of 25,000 USD up for grabs.
Furthermore, the top six finalists will receive nurturing from industry experts through TiE U Nurture, a programme designed to enhance the ecosystem for select startups. TiE Mysuru Chapter President Dr. Mahesh Rao highlighted the significance of the competition in fostering entrepreneurship among college students.
The competition is open to startups/ founders currently in college or who have graduated after the academic year 2022-2023 onwards. Mentored by experienced entrepreneurs at the regional level, startups present their ideas to a seasoned jury panel to select the regional winner. The winning team then becomes part of the global cohort, undergoing extensive mentoring and coaching by international mentors.
