Tiger mauls woman to death in H.D. Kote

Mysore/Mysuru: Forest Department officials and villagers this morning discovered the body of a woman shepherd who had gone missing after a tiger attack in the Murband Hill area of H.D. Kote taluk yesterday.

The victim, identified as Chikki (45) from Malada Haadi in N. Begur, was grazing goats near the hill with another woman from the village when the incident occurred.

According to forest officials, the companion informed villagers about the tiger attack, prompting a search operation. During the search, villagers found Chikki’s severed leg near a watcher tower, but darkness halted further efforts.

The search resumed this morning, leading to the discovery of Chikki’s body a short distance from the watcher tower in the N. Begur Forest Area. Antharasanthe Police visited the scene, conducted a mahazar and initiated a case.

Chikki’s remains were shifted to H.D. Taluk Hospital for post-mortem examination. Police and forest officials are stationed in the village to engage in discussions with residents about the incident.
