Time and Tide Wait for None but UoM’s Centenary Clock remains an exception!

Sir,

It’s 2.30 pm when these snaps were taken. All the 4 clocks have come to a grinding halt. As you are aware, this is not the first time it has stopped working.

Usain Bolt ended his decade-long dominance in the world athletics at the 2017 World Championship. The most inspiring line that I read in the following morning newspaper was, “Usain Bolt’s only opponent had been a clock.”

I am sure the reference had little relevance to the Centenary Clock Tower at Manasagangothri campus of University of Mysore (UoM). Every morning, I am at the vicinity of this tower during my cricket practice and keep checking the time looking at the clock. Unfortunately, more than the times it is right, it is still. Irony !

HMT, the time-keepers to the nation, has miserably failed to keep this clock ticking. The 70- feet tower which was constructed emulating The Great Bell of the Clock, nicknamed BIG BEN in London, has to live up to the reputation.
