Mysore/Mysuru: In the wake of Lok Sabha polls scheduled for tomorrow (Apr. 26), the officials attached to Hunsur Taluk SVEEP Committee took out a torch-light march on the main streets of the town to create voter awareness yesterday.
The rally, which began from Raghavendra Swamy Mutt near Kalkunike Circle, was inaugurated by Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Shivakumar by lighting a torch.
Speaking on the occasion, he instructed the officials to ensure no untoward incidents were reported during the polling and added that the officials must take measures to achieve 100 percent voting in all Village Panchayats coming under the taluk. Later the rally passed through KHB Colony, Mooruramma Colony, Assistant Commissioner’s Residence Road, Police Quarters and Sadshivaiah Koppal before culminating at Kalkunike Circle creating awareness among voters of Ward No. 1 to Ward No. 9 falling under the polling booths 129 to 141.
The officials raised slogans like ‘Namma Nade Mathakatteya Kade’ (Our walk is towards the polling booths), ‘April 26 Mareyadiri’ (Don’t forget April 26), ‘Namma Matha Namma Hakku’ (Our Vote is Our Right).
Taluk Panchayat Planning Officer M.S. Rajesh, Manager Mahesh Nayak, Assistant Director Giridhar, Flying Squad Officers Chandrashekar and Lokesh, City Municipal Council SVEEP Nodal Officers Somasunder and Shashi, Village Development Officers and others took part.
