Naveen Thomas John, the reigning Road Cycling National Champion leads after the first leg of the competitive section (Malavalli to Bannur-11.1km) with a timing of 15m:19.21s in the under-35 men’s section, held on Sunday.
Around 128 cyclists who started off from Bengaluru, yesterday reached Mysuru by 4 pm. The grand tour with a contingent of 128 cyclists will pedal more than 1000 km across Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, between Dec. 10 and 17. Starting from Bengaluru the cyclists will pedal through Mysuru, Madikeri, Sultan Bathery, Udhagamandalam (Ooty) and finish it by pedaling back to Mysuru.
On day-one cyclists pedaled from Bengaluru to Mysuru – nicknamed The Breakaway – covering a distance of 167 km of which 11.1 km was the competitive segment (between Ugranapura Doddi Village, Malavalli and opposite to Police Station, Kirugavalu, Malavalli-Mysuru Road).
The rally in the second leg left for Madikeri from Mysuru today morning and will then go to Sultan Bathery, Ooty and come back to Mysuru on the 16th evening.
