RideACycle Foundation (RAC-F), the organisers of Tour of Nilgiris (TfN) unveiled the jersey of TfN 2017 here yesterday.
This being the 10th edition of TfN, it has attracted 128 cyclists and they will pedal more than 1,000 kms across Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu between Dec. 10 and Dec. 17.
Starting from Bengaluru cyclists will pedal through Mysuru, Madikeri, Sultan Bathery, Ooty and end tour at Mysuru.
Addressing a press conference here today, Satish Belawadi, Tour Director, TfN 2017, said, “In the 10th edition we are witnessing the largest cycling contingent participation of 128 cyclists and what is more satisfying is that the grand tour has attracted top ranking cyclists who have impressive cycling credentials to their name.”
The celebrity cyclists to pedal TfN 2017 include Alexi Grewal – an Indian American to win an Olympic Gold Medal in road cycling in 1984; Lt. Col. Dr. Srinivas Gokulnath, India’s first RAAM finisher (Race Across America – 5000 kms in 11 days 18 hours); Naveen John, with 3xNational ITT Championships and a national Road Race championship under his belt, he is probably the finest cyclist coming out of India and Kiran Kumar Raju, National MTB Championship Winner – 2015 & 2016. The winners at TfN 2017 will earn themselves the top range bikes.
Of the 128 cyclists set to pedal TfN 2017, 120 are men, while 8 are women. Further, 110 cyclists are from different parts of India, while 18 are from overseas and hail from The Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Australia, USA and Russia.
