Mysuru: With 21 days left for the commencement of Dasara festivities on Oct. 3, traditional puja was performed to the cannons at Mysore Palace premises this morning.
A total of seven cannons, which will be used for offering 21-round gun salute, on Vijayadashami, were cleaned and pulled near the Aane Bagilu of the Palace where Priest S.V. Prahllad Rao and City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar performed the puja between 10 am and 11 am.
Meanwhile, a 30-member Pirangi Dal, led by City Armed Reserve (CAR) Police force Inspector Shivanada Patil and Assistant Sub-Inspector S. Siddaraju guided by ACP (CAR) Satish has been formed.
City Police Chief Seema Latkar said that, as seven cannons will be used for firing, traditional puja was performed to these cannons today. Pointing out that this year too seven cannons will be used, she said that cannon firing drills will be conducted in phases and the dates will be announced shortly. DCPs M. Muthuraj (Law and Order) and S. Jahnavi (Crime and Traffic), all ACPs including ACP Chandrashekar (Palace) and ACP Shanthamallappa were present.
