Traffic block by zig-zag barricades

Sir,

Since the time four zig-zag barricades were placed on either side in front of Canara Bank, Temple Road, Jayalakshmipuram, motorists are facing undue hardships. Considering the width of this road, four zig-zag barricades can only create traffic hurdles than resolving it.

Every time when a bus or other heavy vehicle moves through these barricades, traffic is blocked for some time, inviting accidents. Instead of four barricades, the Traffic Police can have either two barricades or remove all the four barricades.

Also by placing the barricades at the entrance of Canara Bank, available parking space for Canara Bank customers got curtailed. Canara Bank is one of the oldest banks in this locality frequented by senior citizens. By curtailing the available parking space by placing the barricades in front of the Bank, Police have done a disservice to the senior citizens.

On enquiry with the concerned Police Station, I was informed that these barricades were placed to avoid the accidents on this stretch of the road.

Accidents — if at all any — are caused  by the fast moving vehicles entering the Temple road from  the  intersecting roads on either side of Temple road. Wise mode to resolve this issue would be to plan scientific  humps on the side roads than blocking free movement of vehicles on Temple road.
