Training in Testing and Evaluation for Collegiate Teachers teaching Tamil

Mysuru: Dr. P. R. Dharmesh Fernandez, Professor-cum-Deputy  Director, Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL) and Head, Centre for Testing and Evaluation (CT&E), inaugurated the five-day training-cum-workshop on Testing and Evaluation and Question Item Writing for the Assistant Professors of Tamil working in Universities and Colleges in Tamil Nadu here on June 4. The workshop is organised by the National Testing Service-India (NTS-I) at CIIL, Mysuru.

In his inaugural address, Dr. Fernandez briefed the participants about the activities of CIIL and its various schemes. He added that the benefits gained by the teachers during this programme shall be implemented in all the classroom activities.

He said that recruiting agencies and selection organisations can utilise the services of the outstanding participants of this programme as test developers and item writers.

Pankaj  Dwivedi,  Officer  In-charge of  NTS-I,  briefed about the objectives of the training-cum-workshop.

Dr. V. Ilangovan and Dr.  R. Shakunthala (the academics of NTS-I) welcomed and proposed a vote of thanks respectively.

Prof. T. Sethupandian, former Professor of Tamil at Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai; Prof. N. Nadaraja Pillai, Prof. Sam Mohanlal and Dr. M. Balakumar, all the three formerly of CIIL, Mysuru, were present. Besides the above external experts, NTS-I faculties   Dr. V. Ilangovan, Dr. Biresh Kumar, Dr.  R.  Shakunthala, Dr. A.R. Muthukaruppan and  Dr. Eswaran will train the participants in various sessions of the workshop.

Prof. D. G. Rao, Director, CIIL, Mysuru, is the overall patron of the workshop.

Thirty-seven Assistant Professors from various Universities and Government First Grade Colleges of Tamil Nadu, who are engaged in teaching and research of Tamil, are participating in this training workshop.
