Mysuru: A six-day National-level workshop-cum- training Programme on ‘Laboratory Phonetics and Phonology’ for the doctoral researchers and post-graduate students will be held from Sept. 25 to 30 at Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL) premises in city.
Priority will be given to doctoral students who are working in areas relevant to the workshop theme having linguistics/cognitive science/speech/ science/computational linguistics, etc.
The aim of the workshop is to showcase cutting edge “laboratory phonetics and phonology” approaches to Indian languages.
The participants will have an opportunity to learn state-of-the-art methods and techniques in the field of phonetics and phonology. The workshop will be a fine blend of lectures and hands-on laboratory sessions, and will cover different topics on Speech Sounds, Syllable Structure, Tone, Intonation, Optimality theory, Neural Networks for Language Science, etc.
The Institute will reimburse return 3AC fare to Ph.D students and sleeper class fare to M.Phil/M.A. students. Applicants have to get their forms forwarded by their Ph.D supervisor/Head of Department. Selected participants must bring their own laptops (minimum configuration: Windows 7/2GB Ram/i3 processors/500 GB HDD) for the purpose of laboratory sessions.
