Mysuru: The Department of Commercial Tax, Divisional GST Office and District Treasury together had organised a training workshop on ‘Tax Deduction at Source (TDS)’ at Rani Bahadur Auditorium in Manasagangothri here yesterday.
About 500 Officers of various State and Central Government Department participated in the workshop.
The programme was inaugurated jointly by Joint Commissioners of Commercial Tax Dr. L. Satish Kumar, Gundu Rao, Surgimath and Treasury Officer Mahesh.
Delivering the Keynote address, Dr. Sathish Kumar said that TDS was not a new concept but has been improvised under GST regime. He added that the officers would be penalised if TDS was not deduced promptly.
Officers of Department of Commercial Tax and District Treasury briefed the participants on salient features of TDS applications.
He further said that TDS would come under the GST scheme from Oct.1 and the workshop was just aimed to groom the Government officers on the implications of TDS. He added that such training workshops were being held throughout the State.
