Mysuru: Transport Minister H.M. Revanna said that there are many rare tourist attractions in and around Mysuru and the city itself has many eye-catching heritage structures. Hence, it is a perfect place to promote tourism and thus boost the economy of the place.
He was speaking after flagging off the ‘Palace-on-Wheels’, a bus tour of the city’s Palaces and museums, organised by Tourism Department and KSRTC City Division, here this morning at the Kote Ajaneyaswami Temple in front of the North Gate of the Palace.
“The move by the Tourism Department and KSRTC to introduce Palace-on-Wheels is really good and it could become a regular tourist attraction if it is promoted properly. All efforts should be made to attract tourists throughout the year by providing proper basic infrastructure,” he said.
The 37-seater ‘Palace-on- Wheels’ begins every day at 10 am from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple and returns to the same place at 6 pm. There are two guides from the Tourism Department who take the people on a guided tour of Mysore Palace, Jaganmohan Palace, Regional Museum of Natural History, Siddharthanagar, Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalay, Irwin Road, Railway Museum, and Jayalakshmi Vilas Mansion, Manasagangothri. There will be break for lunch at Lalitha Mahal Palace Hotel and the price per ticket is Rs. 999. About 12 tourists travelled today.
