Mysore/Mysuru: “The State Government, which has increased the price of petrol and diesel, has put truckers into a lot of hardship. Adding to it is the increase in the prices of toll fee, tyre, insurance and spare parts. The State Government should immediately roll back the hike in fuel prices and come to the help of truckers,” urged Mysuru District Truckers Association.

Addressing a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan here yesterday, Association President Srinivasa Rao said that the truck owners suffered loss due to drought last year and this year, following hike in fuel prices, the cost of transportation will increase. Truckers are facing difficulties to collect the increase in transportation cost from those sending the goods.

Rao further said that competitions have begun with many truckers offering to transport goods at lesser price causing a lot of hardships to many truck owners. “In the end, the transportation cost will be levied on consumers and the prices of essential commodities will also increase,” the Association President said and urged the State Government to roll the hiked prices of fuels, failing which he warned of staging a massive protest.

M.P. Nagaraju, Asgar Ali Khan, Lingaraju and Prakash were present at the press meet.
