Mysuru: KR MLA S.A. Ramdas has said that Tulasidas Hospital at Srinivasa Circle will be remodelled at a cost of Rs.20 crore out of Central Government funds.
Speaking after visiting the hospital recently, Ramdas said that the hospital will be re-built with a floor area of over 4,800 sq.mts and the contractor has been directed to complete the works in two years.
Recalling that Tulasidas had donated the land for construction of a maternity hospital, the MLA said that at present, most of the patients visiting the hospital were from economically backward sections of the society.
Stating that there were plans to remodel this hospital when Jayadeva Hospital was coming up in the city, Ramdas said that somehow the plan did not take shape then. But now, he was delighted to see that the project is taking off from Central Government funds, he said.
Ramdas directed the officials to take necessary measures for installation of Tulasidas’ statue at Srinivasa Circle (Five Lights Circle). Earlier, Ramdas who inspected the hospital building, discussed with the officials, the shifting of patients.
The MLA also discussed the possibility of shifting the patients to Cheluvamba Hospital and on the alternative arrangements to be made for the visit of the patients, once the construction of the new building starts. He also instructed the DHO to ensure that the patients visiting the hospital are not inconvenienced.
