Mysore/Mysuru: The residence of Mysore Vasudevacharya, near Basaveshwara Circle on New Sayyaji Rao Road in city, will play host to two vocal concerts on Sunday (Jan. 11).
Vidu. Rupasri Shankar, now settled in the United States, will be presenting a vocal concert starting at 10.30 am. She will be accompanied by Vid. Rupanagudi Ratna Teja on violin, Vid. Nandan Kashyap on mridanga and Vid. T.N. Ajay on ghata.
Vid. Harish Venkataraman, also from the US, will be presenting the second concert, beginning at 5 pm. He will be supported by Vid. S. Venkatasundaram on violin and Vid. Chidatma Datta Chaganti on mridanga.
Both the concerts are open to all music-lovers.
Profiles: Vidu. Rupasri had her initial tutoring under Deepa Srinivasan, a senior disciple of late T.K Govindarao. She has undergone advanced training under Vid. Gokul Chandramouli, Vidu. Vani Ramamurthi, and famed vocalist duo Ranjani and Gayatri.
Vid. Ratna Teja has learnt violin under Ashok Gurujale, Peri Sriramamurthy and is now under the tutelage of Mysore brothers, Dr. Mysore Manjunath and Mysore Nagaraj. He has a Master’s degree in Music from University of Mysore.
Vid. Nandan Kashyap began his musical journey under the tutelage of Vid. V.S. Ramesh and continued his training under Dr. Patri Satish Kumar in Chennai. A graded artiste of Akashvani and Doordarshan, he also holds an MBA degree.
Vid. Ajay started learning mridanga and ghata from Guru P.G. Lakshminarayan and then pursued higher training by Tumkur B. Ravishankar. He is a ‘B’ graded artiste of Akashvani.
Vid. Harish has learnt vocal music under Dr. Rukmini Ramani (daughter of legendary Papanasam Sivan) and mridanga under Vid. S.V. Ramani. Performing since 2022, he has accompanied many senior artistes on mridanga in India and USA.
Vid. Venkatasundaram has learnt violin, first under Vid. Chittoor Anand and under the guidance of Vid. Vittal Rangan. He is a graduate in AI and Data Science, now working as a Software Engineer.
Vid. Chidatma, a passionate mridanga artiste based in Dallas, US, began his training under Vid. R.S. Ramesh of Mysuru, a disciple of Guru Karaikudi Mani.
