Two arrested for looting Rs. 20,000 in the name of Minister’s PA

Madikeri: The Kushalnagar Police have arrested two persons on charges of looting Rs. 20,000 from a Revenue Inspector, after posing that they were the Personal Assistants of Kodagu District In-charge Minister.

The arrested have been identified as Raghunath, 34 years, of Ramenahalli and Shivamurthy, 35 years, of Dattagalli in Mysuru.

 Kushalnagar Revenue Inspector Santosh was at his house at about 9 pm on Nov. 19, when two unidentified persons called him and identified themselves as Personal Assistants of Kodagu District In-charge Minister and asked him to pay Rs. 20,000 through Google Pay as they were in dire  need of money. They also promised to return the money in a short time.

Believing them, Santosh immediately paid them Rs.20,000 through Google Pay. But getting suspicious after an after-thought, Revenue Inspector Santosh visited the office of Kodagu District In-charge Minister the next day (Nov.20) and enquired about the two, when to his shock, it was discovered that the two miscreants had duped him. He then lodged a complaint with the Kushalnagar Police, who in a swift action, nabbed the conman duo who are from Mysuru.

The nabbing operation was carried out by Kushalnagar Circle Police Inspector B.G. Prakash and staff.
