Mysore/Mysuru: Udayagiri Police have arrested two youths, who had murdered a 23-year-old youth in a drunken state over petty reasons on Monday night and had gone absconding. The Police have arrested the accused within 12 hours of them committing the crime.
The accused are 20-year-old Madhu and 22-year-old Kiran, both construction workers and residents of Valmiki Road in Kyathamaranahalli. The Police arrested them at T. Narasipur yesterday morning. The accused had fled the city after murdering Satish (23), also a resident of Kyathamaranahalli and were hiding in T. Narasipur.
Udayagiri Inspector Poonacha, who had registered a case, had constituted a team led by Sub-Inspector Jayakeerthi to trace and arrest the accused. Following the mobile phone location of the accused, the Police team zeroed in on the accused in T. Narasipur and finally arrested them at about 9 am yesterday. They were brought to Udayagiri Police Station.
During interrogation, the accused are said to have confessed of murdering Satish. They (accused) revealed to the Police that on Monday at about 8.30 pm, Satish was standing with his bike by blocking the road and did not leave way for them which led to wordy duel between the trio. The accused later consumed liquor, waited for the arrival of Satish and murdered him at about 9.30 pm, according to the Police.
The accused were produced before the Magistrate yesterday afternoon, who remanded them to judicial custody. Guided by City Police Commissioner Dr. Chandragupta, DCP Dr. A.N. Prakash Gowda and ACP Shashidhar, Udayagiri Police staff Shivarajappa, Rathod, Sameer, Mohan, Vinay, Krishna, Gopal, Anand and Puttaraju, took part in the nabbing operation.
