Gold ornaments worth Rs. 1 lakh recovered
Mysuru: he special team of City Crime Branch (CCB) Police on July 13 arrested two chain snatchers who were trying to dispose of the stolen items on Ashoka Road and have recovered 37 grams gold ornaments besides seizing the two-wheeler used for the crime.
The accused have been identified as 26-year-old Afzal Pasha and Mohammed Akhal Shahid, both residents of Azeez Sait Nagar in city.
During interrogation, the accused are said to have confessed to snatching a gold chain in Udayagiri Police limits and snatching a purse from a woman in Mandi Police limits.
Based on the information provided by the accused, the Police have recovered 37 grams gold ornaments worth about Rs. 1 lakh and have also seized a Bajaj Discover bike used for the crime.
DCP Dr. Vikram V. Amathe and CCB ACP B.R. Lingappa supervised CCB Inspector R. Jagadish, ASI Chandregowda, Alexander and staff M.R. Ganesh, C. Chikkanna, Lakshmikanth, Ramaswamy, Shivaraju, Yakub Shariff, Rajendra, Niranjan and others in the recovery and seizing operation.
