Two-day Annual Function at Jagannath Temple in city

Mysore/Mysuru: The Puri Jagannath Cultural and Welfare Trust will celebrate the Second Annual function of Prabhu Jagannath Temple on the occasion of Sri Krishna Janmasthami at the Temple premises in Vidyaranyapuram here on Sept. 6 and 7.

The two-day programme will feature several events. The chief guest for the programme will be Royal Family member Pramoda Devi Wadiyar. MLA T.S. Srivatsa, Corporator Bhuvaneshwari and BJP KR Constituency President M. Vadivelu will be the guests of honour.

On Sept. 6, there will be Kalash Yatra at 9 am, Narayana Upachara Puja at 1 pm, Prasada Seva at 1.30 pm, Geetha Yagna at 2.30 pm, Krishna Abhisheka at 9 pm and Prasada Seva at 9.30 pm.

On Sept. 7, 9 am onwards Puja, Abhisheka, Yagna, Poornahuthi, Prasada Seva and Cultural programmes will be held throughout the day.

It was a dream come true for all Odias staying in Mysuru who wanted to construct a temple for Lord Jagannath since last so many years. The wooden sculptures of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, Subhadra and Sudarshana were carved out of sacred Neem tree at Odisha, brought to Mysuru for worship. The stone sculptures of other deities are made by Chandrachhari, a resident of Siddartha Layout, Mysuru.
