Mysuru: The two-day International Conference on ‘New Challenges and Innovations in Molecular Medicine’ (NCIMM-2025), organised by the Department of Studies in Chemistry and Department of Studies in Organic Chemistry of University of Mysore (UoM), marking the 70th birthday of former UoM and KSOU Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.S. Rangappa, began at Vijnana Bhavan in Manasagangothri campus here this morning.
Delivering the welcome address, UoM VC Prof. N.K. Lokanath said that the University is deeply honoured to host this Conference with the participation of luminaries whose contributions have shaped the very landscape of modern science.
Pointing out that the Conference will deliberate on subjects such as Biomoleuclar diagnostics, drug discovery through AI (Artificial Intelligence) & natural product chemistry, emerging threats like AMR and biotoxins and the future of personalised medicine, Prof. Lokanath said, “It is hoped that the deliberations will advance scientific knowledge and pave the way for collaborative ventures, policy insights and student capacity building. The UoM, with its long standing legacy of research and global engagement, is proud to serve as the platform for such an important dialogue. This Conference reflects our deep commitment to One Health, interdisciplinary integration and our unwavering belief that knowledge must serve humanity.”
He further said that this forum will spark transformative ideas, new research collaborations and meaningful exchanges, that will influence both policy and practise in the years to come. This Conference is also a great opportunity for research students to interact with top scientists of the country, he added.
Earlier, Padma Shri Prof. Goverdhan Mehta, University Distinguished Professor and Dr. Kallam Anji Reddy Chair and former Director of Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, inaugurated the event.
Prof. T.P. Singh, Distinguished Biotechnology Research Professor, AIIMS, New Delhi, Prof. Tapas Kumar Kundu, Distinguished Research Professor, JNCASR, Bengaluru, Dr. T. Rajamannar, Non-Executive Director, Sun Pharma Advanced Research Company Ltd., Prof. K.S. Rangappa, former UoM and KSOU Vice-Chancellor and others were present.
