Two-day National Karate Championship from tomorrow

Mysuru: Okinawa Karate Do Shorinryu Shorin Kai India will be conducting two-day 27th Shorin Kai Cup National Karate Championship from tomorrow (Nov. 16) at Teresian College Indoor Sports Centre in Siddarthanagar here.

About 1,500 karatekas from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, West Bengal and Karnataka will be taking part in the tourney.

Around 900 members will be taking part in Colour Belt category on Nov. 16 and 650 members will be participating in Senior, Brown and Black Belt category and 15 members are receiving Black Belt on Nov. 17.

The Championship will be inaugurated by Dr. Fr. Augustine Paimpallil, CMI, Provincial Superior of CMI St. Paul Province, Mysuru, at 9.15 am tomorrow.

Former Corporator Savitha Suresh will preside. Christ Public School Principal Fr. Renish P. Varghese will inaugurate Kumite bout and Meghan Sarathy of Mysore Cable Association will inaugurate Kata bout.

On Nov. 17 at 9.15 am, the Black Belt Awarding Ceremony and Senior Tournament will be inaugurated by H. Manju Bhashini, Correspondent, Sree Gokulam International School, Nanjangud. Actor Aadhi Lokesh will inaugurate Kumite bout, K. Raghuraman, Superintending Engineer, KRS Modernisation and Medium Irrigation Project, will preside. Advocate S.P. Mahesh of Nanjangud will inaugurate Kata bout.
