Two-day Shivarchaka Cricket Tournament to conclude today

D. Devaraj Urs Backward Classes Development Corporation Chairman R. Raghu Kautilya said that Shivarchaka community has played a key role in maintaining the original characteristics of folklore amidst the rapid advancements in Science and Technology.

He was speaking after inaugurating the first ever two-day cricket tournament of Shivarchaka community jointly organised by Nrupatunga Charitable Trust and Raghavendranagar’s Sri Medha Samruddhi Trust at the Railway Grounds in Ashokapuram here yesterday.

Maintaining that Shivarchaka community has been engaged in shedding light on the originality of folklore, Raghu Kautilya lauded the commitment of the community in taking forward the rich folklore legacy and other practices, traditions and customs to future generations. Noting that the community has been striving for the cause of humanity, despite several challenges faced by it, he said that the organisation of the cricket tournament will give an opportunity for Shivarchakas, who are always indulged in performing rituals, to share their feelings with the rest of the society. He further said that such sports tournaments should bring the spread-out Shivarchaka community members, under a single platform.

Chutuku Sahitya Parishat Chief Convenor Dr. MGR Urs, Chamundi Hill Chamundeshwari Temple Executive Officer Yathiraj Sampathkumaran, K.R. Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Nanjundaswamy, Shivarchaka Mahasabha President Mallikarjun, Delhi-based Human Rights and Corruption Eradication Organisation Chamarajanagar District Unit President S. Pradeep, Veeragase artiste Keeralu Mahesh, businessmen Shantaveerendraswamy, C. Jagadish and M.L. Nagesh and others were present.

The two-day tourney concludes today (Jan. 10), with valedictory scheduled at 4 pm.
