Mysuru: A two-day training programme on ‘Application of innovations in sustainable WASH (Water, Sanitary and Health) Solutions’ organised by National Institute of Engineering (NIE) in association with Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) and National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA), New Delhi, commenced at NIE premises on Manandavadi Road here this morning.
About 100 officials of engineering section of MCC and Zilla Panchayat are attending the programme which was inaugurated by the dignitaries jointly by watering a sapling.
Briefing the participants, MCC Health Officer Dr. Nagaraj said that the training programme would focus on practical application of innovations in rain water harvesting systems, decentralised waste treatment and hygiene aspects.
He stressed the importance of hand washing especially for civic workers. He disclosed that a WASH Forum would soon be constituted under the supervision of MCC and WASH Lab at NIE.
MCC Superintending Engineer (SE) Mahesh, VVWW SE Harish, NIE Group of Institutions Hon. Secretary G.S. Ramachandra, Principal Dr. G. Ravi, WASH Chair S. Shamsundar and others were present.
