Relatives stage protest in front of K.R. Hospital
Mysuru: Two bike-borne riders who met with an accident on Saturday night in the outskirts of the city, near Belavatha village, succumbed to injuries as the treatment failed.
The two who have died are Raghavendra and Shankar, both residents of Belavatha village and working in a Bar in Sharadadevi Nagar.
They were returning from work on Saturday night on the motorbike (KA-09 EX-2456) when a Tata Ace (KA-09 B-4533) vehicle driven rashly, hit the bike on Ring Road, near RBI Railway underbridge.
The rider Raghavendra and pillion Shankar suffered grievous head injuries in the accident. When they were taken to the K.R. Hospital, the doctors have told the people accompanying them that there was no ventilator in the hospital and they should be taken to another hospital.
The injured were shifted to St. Joseph’s Hospital. However, Shankar succumbed to the injuries on Sunday afternoon and in the evening Raghavendra also died, said the Police.
Protest near K.R. Hospital: The relatives of Shankar and Raghavendra staged a protest in front of K.R. Hospital yesterday, accusing the doctors of negligence.
State Govt.’s scheme: It may be recalled that one Harish was pleading to donate his organs, even as he lay on the road with his body cut into two following an accident in Bengaluru. The State Government had implemented a scheme in the name of Harish, honouring him for his act of valour. If a person is injured in an accident, one should be provided emergency treatment.
The protesters alleged that when Shankar and Raghavendra were brought to the Hospital, the doctors instead of treating them immediately gave the excuse that there was no ventilator. As the victims were bleeding profusely, what they needed was immediate medical attention. Instead, the doctors chose to ignore and asked the victims to be shifted to another hospital giving the excuse of lack of ventilator, alleged the protesters expressing their ire. V.V. Puram Police have registered a case and are investigating.
