Mysuru: Two girls were killed, while 11 others suffered injuries when the Tata Ace vehicle in which they were proceeding to a wedding reportedly fell into Hosur Canal on Hosur-Haliyur Road yesterday evening.
The deceased girls have been identified as Pushpalatha (10) and Pallavi (9) of Kuppe village in K.R. Nagar taluk. All the 11 injured persons have been admitted to K.R. Nagar Hospital.
Yesterday evening, the family members and relatives of the bride were proceeding in the Tata Ace vehicle from Kuppe village to the Kalyana Mantap at Srirampura where the wedding was to take place. When the vehicle neared Hosur Canal, the driver allegedly lost control over the vehicle which fell into the canal, killing the two girls on the spot and injuring 11 others seriously. As there was no water in the canal, a major mishap was averted.
Soon after the incident, the driver of the Tata Ace vehicle has fled from the spot. K.R. Nagar and Chunchanakatte Police, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar and shifted the bodies and the injured to the hospital.
A case has been registered at K.R. Nagar Police Station.
