Mysuru: Two girls were killed when a tipper came from behind and rammed into the scooter they were riding near the Toll Gate, close to Columbia Asia Hospital, here yesterday.
The two unfortunate victims are Neha (19), daughter of Chandrashekar, resident of Krishnamurthypuram, who died yesterday and Prakriti (21), daughter of Jnaneshwar, who succumbed early this morning at 3 at the Columbia Asia Hospital.
Neha, who had just passed her second PUC exam and Prakriti, a student of B.Sc, were going to Nimishamba temple near Srirangapatna on the Honda Activa scooter (KA 09 HD 8884) when a tipper (KA 42,124) came from behind on Mysuru-Bengaluru Road near the old Toll Gate at around 3.30 pm and hit the scooter. They both fell down, suffered grievous injuries and both of them were admitted to the nearby Columbia Asia Hospital. The treatment was unsuccessful and Neha breathed her last at 4.15 pm yesterday. Prakriti who was also battling for life succumbed early this morning.
A case has been registered and N.R. Traffic Police Inspector Nagesh is investigating. The tipper has been confiscated and search is on for the tipper driver.
Passersby try resuscitation
Even as both the girls Neha and Prakriti were lying on the road bleeding profusely, passersby gathered around the girls and tried resuscitation (the action or process of reviving someone from unconsciousness or apparent death) by pumping the chest. However, all efforts failed and sadly both of them succumbed to the injuries.
