192 grams gold ornaments worth Rs. 10 lakh recovered
Mysore/Mysuru: Devaraja Police have arrested two persons (both senior citizens) on charges of cheating a Coimbatore-based goldsmith and have recovered gold ornaments worth Rs. 10 lakh from them.
The arrested are 61-year-old Somashekar of Kushalnagar in Kodagu and 67-year-old Raghu of Kollegal in Chamarajanagar.
Details: On Oct. 6, Coimbatore-based goldsmith Kurupuswamy came to Mysuru to sell gold jewellery during which he came across Somashekar and Raghu, who convinced Kurupuswamy of getting his gold jewellery sold and took the gold ornaments from him.
As the accused neither sold the jewellery nor gave back the ornaments, Kurupuswamy lodged a complaint with Devaraja Police, who registered a case and arrested the accused on Oct. 18.
During interrogation, the accused are said to have confessed of cheating Kurupuswamy and based on the information provided by the accused, the Police have recovered 192 grams gold ornaments worth Rs. 10 lakh from them.
DCP M.S. Geetha Prasanna and Devaraja Sub-Division ACP M.N. Shashidhar supervised Devaraja Inspector Prasanna Kumar, Sub-Inspector Raju, Assistant Sub-Inspector Uday Kumar and staff Somashetty, Venugopal, Chandru, Nandish and Veereshabagevadi in the nabbing and recovery operation, according to a press release from the Police.
