Two held for smuggling

56 kg sandalwood worth Rs. 8.50 lakh seized

Mysore/Mysuru: City Crime Branch (CCB) Police have arrested two persons on charges of smuggling sandalwood and have seized 56 kg of the fragrance wood worth Rs. 8.50 lakh from them.

Following information about two youths smuggling sandalwood in a bike near a bar in Vijayanagar 4th Stage on May 8, the CCB Police stopped the two youths and on inspecting the sack they were carrying, the Police found sandalwood pieces in it following which the Cops arrested the two youths.

Following interrogation, the two accused were produced before a Court, which remanded them to 14 days judicial custody.

DCP (Crime and Traffic) S. Jahnavi and CCB ACP S.N. Sandeshkumar guided CCB Inspector Mohan Kumar, Sub-Inspector A. Maruthi and staff Saleem Pasha, T. Prakash, R. Mahesh, A. Umamahesh, M.R. Ganesh and H.N. Shivanna in the nabbing and seizing operation.
