Two hoteliers of city selected for ‘Athithya Ratna Award’

Mysuru: Govardhan Hotel Proprietor B. Hayavadanacharya and Hotel Santosh Proprietor K. Chandrashekar Hegde of city have been selected for the prestigious State-level ‘Athithya Ratna Award.’

‘Udhyama Ratna’ and ‘Athithya Ratna’ awards, instituted by Karnataka Pradesh Hotels and Restaurants Association (KPHRA) and Udupi District Hotel Owners Association, will be presented  on Dec.11 at 2 pm at a function to be held at Sri Aroor Lakshminarayana Rao Memorial Town Hall at Ajjarkad near Udupi.

The other  winners of ‘Athithya Ratna Award’ are B. Manjunath Mahale of Arasikere, Chandrashekar Arbole of Yadgir, Vishwanath Shenoy of Udupi, Umesh Pujary and N. Raghavendra Rao of Bengaluru, B. Ananthaiah of Tumakuru and Suryanarayana Rao of Mangaluru.

‘Udhyama Ratna Award’ has been won by S. Shadakshari and Gopalakrishna Shetty of Bengaluru and Keradi Chandrashekar Shetty of Udupi.

Hayavadanacharya was born on June 17, 1947 at Padubelle of Dakshina Kannada district and after working in a hotel in Mysuru, opened his own ‘Murali Cafe’ in Halladakeri. He opened Govardhan Hotel in 1986 followed by Panchami Lodge in 1987, Cafe Chavadi in 2004 and Amogh Residency in 2006.

Chandrashekar Hegde, belonging to the Marodi family of Karimaneyalu village in Venur taluk of Dakshina Kannada on Feb.14, 1940, commenced his hotel business in Saraswathipuram in Mysuru in 1996 and now owns Hotel Santosh and is also a partner to the building housing Pai Vista Hotel. He is also a member of Mysuru Hotel Owners Association and KPHRA.
