Two killed as goods vehicle hits bike

Mysuru: Two persons on a two-wheeler were killed when a goods vehicle hit their vehicle near Belawadi Check-Post on Hunsur Road yesterday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Manohar (55), a resident of Nagavala and Baburam (57), hailing from Uttar Pradesh.

The duo were proceeding on a motorbike from Mysuru side when a speeding goods vehicle, coming from the opposite direction rammed into the bike in front of a petrol bunk near Belawadi Check-Post at about 10.55 am, killing bike rider Baburam on the spot and seriously injuring Manohar. Manohar was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was given first-aid and was being shifted to K.R. Hospital, but he breathed his last midway, VV Puram Traffic Police said.

Manohar and Baburam were working at a porcelain manufacturing factory and had come to Mysuru on a work. The accident occurred when they were returning. VV Puram Traffic Police, who rushed to the spot, seized the goods vehicle besides taking the driver into custody.

A case has been registered and investigation is on.
