Mysuru: The Government has suspended two officials on charges of misappropriation of funds.
Chamarajanagar CMC Commissioner M. Rajanna and Srirangapatna Town Municipal Council (TMC) Executive Officer S. Lokesh are the ones who have been suspended.
Directorate of Municipal Administration Director Dr. R. Vishal has ordered suspension of the two officials with immediate effect.
Rajanna and Lokesh, while serving as MCC Community Officers earlier in Mysuru, were charged of misusing Rs.1.6 crore.
The two had caused losses to the MCC by misappropriation of Rs. 39,98,250 meant for distribution of sewing machines to beneficiaries, Rs. 69.12 lakh meant for solar power, Rs. 42.72 lakh meant for solar lights and Rs. 9.38 lakh meant for purchasing books and magazines for libraries, totalling Rs. 1,61,20,250.
The Directorate which conducted a probe, found the two guilty of the charges and suspended M. Rajanna, who is currently serving as Chamarajanagar CMC Commissioner and s. Lokesh, currently serving as the Executive Officer at Srirangapatna TMC.
The Directorate has also directed the MCC Commissioner to recover the loss of Rs. 1,61,20, 250 (Rs. 80,60,125 each) along with annual interest of 8% from the two officials.
