Two-wheeler lifters arrested

Six vehicles worth Rs. 4 lakh recovered

Mysore/Mysuru: City Crime Branch (CCB) Police have arrested two persons on charges of lifting two-wheelers in city and have recovered six two-wheelers worth about Rs. 4 lakh from them. 

Following increase in vehicle thefts in city, City Police Commissioner Dr. Chandragupta had constituted a special Police team comprising CCB officials and staff, who nabbed 21-year-old Abdul Rahim of Udayagiri near Albadar Masjid in Rajivnagar here on Aug. 6. Another accused 39-year-old Abid Pasha of Shanthinagar was held on Aug. 7.

Accused Abdul Rahim is a resident of Neelakantanagar in Nanjangud and was residing at his aunt’s house in Udayagiri in city.

During interrogation, the accused are said to have confessed of committing the crime and based on the information provided by them, the Police have recovered six two-wheelers worth Rs. 4 lakh from them.

Following the arrest, the CCB Police have solved one case each in Vijayanagar, V.V. Puram, Lashkar and Narasimharaja Police Stations and two cases in Udayagiri Police Station.

Interrogation has also revealed that accused Abdul Rahim had cases registered against him at Lashkar and Udayagiori Police Stations while accused Abid Pasha was involved in various murder and attempt to murder cases. They had taken to vehicle lifting for money.

DCP (Crime and Traffic) M.S. Geetha Prasanna and CCB ACP C.K. Ashwathnarayan guided CCB Inspector R. Jagadish and staff in the nabbing and seizing operation, according to a press release.
