Mysuru: Two wine stores located near the private bus stand at old RMC Yard, were raided yesterday by the MCC Health Officials for opening the outlets and conducting business before the stipulated time of 10 am. The outlets which were raided are Chamundi Wines and SB Wines. Following complaints from the public that the two liquor outlets were selling liquor as early as 6 am, the MCC officials, led by Health Officer Nagaraju, raided the two wine shops for violating the rules.
Nagaraju said that they have issued warnings to the two wine shops that action would be initiated against them if they open the wine shops before the stipulated time of 10 am besides writing to the Excise Department and the Deputy Commissioner to take action against the wine shops for opening and conducting business before 10 am.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Excise Jagadish Naik, who said that he was unaware of the raids by the MCC, clarified that the rules clearly states that liquor shops cannot be opened before 10 am.
