Udupi’s Ranjani Memorial Trust starts ‘Griha Sangeeth Series’ in Mysuru

Mysuru: Prof. V. Aravinda Hebbar, President of Ranjani Memorial Trust (RMT), Udupi, inaugurated the auxiliary wing of RMT in Mysuru as ‘Ninaada Griha Sangeeth Series’ at Ninaada House in Rishabh Siddhi Layout, Kergalli, here last month.

Speaking on the occasion, he said “It is possible to invite any artistes by giving high remuneration and arrange their concert. But one needs to have a small Griha Sangeeth or Baithak concert where the artiste sits with the listeners face to face to establish a gripping rapport with the artistes and have a very cordial relationship. This is what Ranjani Memorial Trust has successfully attempted at Udupi and the auxiliary wing of RMT has been started in Mysuru now.

The Trust aspires to arrange monthly concerts open both to Karnatak and Hindustani performers, he said.

As the inaugural concert, Bharath Hegade of Sirsi gave a solo recital on harmonium for the first half of the programme. His khyal rendering in Puriya Kalyan was soft and mellifluous.  Bhima Shankar Bidanur accompanied him on tabla.

Shrimathidevi, the young promising vocalist of Mysuru gave her vocal recital next, with Bharath Hegade on harmonium and Bhima Shankar on tabla.

The attendance of a knowledgeable rasikas gave a good boost to the organisers to continue Griha Sangeeth endeavour,  said V.  Saranga Hebbar of RMT, Mysuru, who can be contacted on Mob: 94496-76014.
