Ugadi festival and Allamaprabhu Jayanti celebrations will take place at Suttur Mutt, Suttur Srikshetra in Nanjangud taluk on Apr. 9 in the presence of Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji. The celebrations include Panchanga Shravana and dedication of Robot Elephant ‘Shiva’.
Maharudra-bhisheka, Sahasra Bilwarchane, Mahamangalarathi, Belliratha Prakarotsava etc., will be conducted from early morning.
JSS Lalithakala troupe will render Vachana Gayana at 9.30 am, following which Dr. Vinodamma, a faculty of Mahajana First Grade College, will deliver talk on ‘Allamaprabhudevara Vachanagalalli Daarshanikathe’ at 10.30 am and ‘Pan-changa Pathana’ by Dr. K.G. Puttahonnaiah.
Robot Elephant ‘Shiva’
New Delhi-based People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) will hand over ‘Shiva’ to the Mutt at 12 noon.
Shiva, a unique 3-metre-tall mechanical elephant weighing 800 kilograms, is a gift from actors Aindrita Ray and Diganth Manchale and PETA India to the Mutt in honour of the Mutt’s commitment to never hire or keep real elephants.
