Mysuru: Telugu Samskruthika Samithi, Mysuru, had recently organised Ugadi family get-together which was attended by over 500 members.
In his inaugural speech, Dr. A. Subrahmanyeswara Rao, City Police Commissioner, said that though he belonged to Nellore in Andhra Pradesh, most of his life was spent in Karnataka, particularly in Bengaluru while studying Medicine and in Police service and still he has not forgotten his mother tongue, Telugu, which he said is a language which is rich in literature and culture.
He also reminded that wherever the Telugu people go, they become part of the local people like brothers and sisters and would also display their merit and talents for development.
He thanked the Telugu Samithi for giving him the rare opportunity to address audience in Telugu.
Jayadeva Bhalay Rao, Kumara Raja of Peda Pavani and great grandson of Raja of Venkatagiri (AP) and his wife, who are said to be closely related to the Mysore Royal Family, expressed their pleasure for being part of this programme.
R.V.S. Sundaram, Professor in Telugu, University of Mysore, expressed his gratitude to the Telugu Samithi for the honour conferred on him on this occasion. Prof. Sundaram has written several novels, folk songs (Janapadageethe/Kathegalu) and translations to several languages.
As part of cultural programmes, TTD’s Vidwan Gurajada Madhusudana Rao and his accompanists enthralled the audience through Annamacharya Keerthanas. Mohanakrishna, TV Artist from Hyderabad, entertained the audience by his mimicry.
S.V.S. Sreeram, Secretary, proposed a vote of thanks. Harinath and Viswanath compered. Geetha Raju rendered invocation. Jayaram, Vice President, Ramachandra, Treasurer and other EC Members were present.
